STEAM Museum comes to Horizon
Written by Katie Williams, 4th and 5th Grade Math Teacher
On Wednesday April 13th, 2016 Horizon Science Academy Cincinnati transformed into a STEAM Museum. This museum exposed students to the wonders of science, technology, engineering, art and Mathematics. This program was presented by Mobile Education Productions. Students were fully immersed in a hands on learning experience. They started with a demonstration of Nao a humanoid robot. Nao can talk, walk, play soccer and even dance. Students enjoyed showing off their focus and balance skills with Nao as he demonstrated his Ti chi moves. Students also got to see the magic of 3-Dimensional printing and watch characters from their favorite video games come off the screen.
Students were given time to explore the many stations of the STEAM Museum. Students could program micro robots, light up a LED light board by creating energy from riding a bike, build with kinects, rebuild an Archimedes arch, explore the word of gears, check out the best ways to create friction, and test out Newton’s laws of motion.
This was a great experience for all students K-8th grade.
