LOCK-DOWN Drill

Thursday, September 28th, we will be conducting our first LOCK-DOWN drill in the morning. Classroom teachers and staff will review the expectations for what to do when a lock-down drill is conducted. We practice the procedures for a lock-down drill to ensure that students and staff would be prepared to react in the event of an emergency in our building. The students will be reminded Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning that we will be conducting a lock-down drill. Please discuss the following expectations with your students as reminders for their behavior in all drills:
• Remain Calm
• Eyes on teacher/staff
• Listen for instructions
• Quietly and quickly follow directions
During our drills, we will post signs by our entrances, advising visitors that a drill is in progress. We will also announce that a drill is occurring. We will follow all other building safety procedures, so that students are aware of what to do in the event an emergency plan is put in place. Thank you for your support in helping your children to understand the need and importance of being cooperative participants in our building level drills. Please contact me with any questions or concern.
