The ROBOCON is a part of the STEMCON – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Convention. STEMCON is organized by Concept Schools. The mission of the STEMCON is to increase public awareness in science, math and engineering. We believe that every school has the potential to shine in science, math, and engineering; therefore, we encourage every school to share their experiences, talents, and abilities with other schools through this unique platform.
ROBOCON is a robotic sumo contest; two autonomous robots attempt to push each other out of a circular arena using mechanisms, cunning, and brute force. Horizon Science Academy Cincinnati attended this organization in order to compete in the ROBOCON competition. In the first round there were four teams. Our team was able to accelerate and compete at the next level which there was no more groups to compete against; the matches were win or lose. In the next level, we were able to eliminate our opponent. In the following level we collected the same number of points in 3 rounds. So, it was a head to head competition. The judge decided that the heavier robot would lose in this round. Since our robot was skinnier than our component we advanced to the next level which was before the semifinals. In this level the component team was much more powerful and we lost. Horizon students put forth a great effort at ROBOCON!
