Written by Katie Williams, 4-5th grade math teacher
In early February, 5th-8th grade students at Horizon competed in a national math competition known as Mathcon. Students completed a grade-level specific times test built of 40 multiple-choice questions in 40 minutes. Students from all types of schools competed. This year over 45,000 student competed in the MathCon online test. The top two students per grade level were invited to represent our school at a regional MathCon competition in Indianapolis on March 12th. Students enjoyed the day with students in grades 5-12 from all over Ohio, and Indiana.
Representing HSAC in the regional MathCon Competition were the following students: 5th graders Aniyah Fordie and Marquez Johnson, 6th grader Erin Smoot and 7th grader Keyvah Hays.
A special congratulations to Aniyah Fordie and Keyvah Hays who received honorable mention and placed in the top 30 for their grade levels! The HSAC staff is so proud of our students for working so hard!
