Nature Next Door School Program (formerly Nature Connections)

Are you or your school looking for a free program that involves hands-on learning and science facts?
Well, look no further than Cincinnati Parks! Realizing the need for low-cost field trip opportunities
for Cincinnati schools, we created Nature Next Door.

This free program brings the field trip to nearby greenspaces within walking distance of urban
schools, eliminating the prohibitive cost of transportation.

Teachers and their 2nd-5th grade classes meet with naturalists three times over the school
year—outdoors in the Fall and Spring, and in Winter, we come into the classroom and bring a variety
of hands-on activities for the indoors. We focus on one topic for your class, so students get a
cumulative learning experience throughout the year. Each visit lasts 60 – 90 minutes.

New this year – Your class may be eligible for a free Spring field trip to Avon Woods Nature Center,
bus included! Call to book now – availability is limited. For more information on scheduling, please
call 861-3435 or email rachel.rice@cincinnati-oh.gov
